Taking over the highly coveted former Boathouse location near English Bay, CRAFT Beer Market was one of BBSpro’s landmark projects of 2020/2021. The beer and wine system installation for this impressive project was expertly led by BBSpro President and founder Greg Bamford.

Project Background: The new CRAFT Beer Market English Bay features an impressive 11,000 square foot space that spans two floors, complete with a covered patio that will treat guests to the iconic views of English Bay throughout the year. The interior design and decor was heavily influenced by the West End neighbourhood and its waterfront location, incorporating wood elements, a sophisticated beach vibe and locally sourced art. As part of their mantra, CRAFT will continue to offer the extensive draft selection they are known for with over 100 beers, ciders and meads that are complemented with an impressive food, wine and unique cocktail menu.

Project Execution: The custom-built 100 tap stainless tower upstairs was in good company alongside one of the most enviable views in Vancouver’s West End overlooking English Bay. Space was a key consideration for the design team with the key task of drawing 120 taps from a windowed keg room that feeds into two distinct service areas. The iconic U-shaped central bar in the main dining room features 100 taps for pours of local, domestic, and import beers along with several taps featuring the unique concept of draft kegged wines & cocktails. The remaining 20 downstairs use a “serverless” bar concept which showcase local craft brews that aims to replicate the experience of a local brewery taproom. The dedicated BBSpro team ran trunklines and installed a state-of-the-art temperature-controlled glycol system which was designed for the site. The keg room also includes stainless custom keg racking which accommodates all 120 beer, wines and cocktails. Each keg has a specialized gas mixture of Nitrogen & Co2 tapped to it to ensure a fresh product . All taps are balanced with proper amount of restriction for the perfect pour. After months of construction and pandemic challenges, the transformed space came to life and BBSpro was on hand to pour some quality beer from the freshly brewed kegs.

We’re very excited to open a second home in the city and become a part of Vancouver’s iconic West End neighborhood. This will be a unique and premiere location for CRAFT and will feature things that our guests haven’t seen in other CRAFT locations, or in other concepts in Vancouver. We will also pay homage to the history of this building and the surrounding area with new design features and offerings.
